Thanks Larry. Great stuff. I'll look to see what they think about the topics. Agreed with the ASA group. I will dig through their material and see if there is anything I can think through / pass on to them as well.

Ryan:

This is terrific---practical, down to earth, and short!---I will distribute this to my law students at BC Law---I also think financial literacy is critical to being an entrepreneur and one can never start too soon, esp. as graduation approaches---American Student Assistance (ASA.org) has a great and informative site helping students focus on paying their loans so that they can get on with what they really want to do post-graduation!

Never Eat Alone is a must read! Wish I had read it in college, I could have used some of the advice. So if you haven't got this book already what are you waiting for? Love it, live it!

Thanks for helping me out with slide number five. ;)

Truly inspiring! All of these things have definitely been on my to-do list for years. I would just add one thing- keep a journal. I find that trying to be creative and inventive on command is difficult, but if you carry around a notebook then you can write things down when the idea hits you. Then you'll never forget it! And not every idea has to be innovative. What sets small, entrepreneurial businesses apart from other businesses is that you can think of the small ideas that usually get overlooked at big corporations because top managers aren't as connected with the day-today activities as you are.

Keep writing and the readers will keep coming. :D

I am glad I found your blog because I am going to read the shit out of it. Have always loved what you have to say. I am a believer in a true Durkin. I have been doing a fair amount of college recruiting for work and have had plenty of opportunities to interview students looking for jobs, talk about their futures, etc. Those are some of the exact things I tell them -- get variety out of your internships and make sure you show that you do something with your life outside of school. ITS NOT ONLY ABOUT YOUR GPA. I try to preach that its about juggling a ton of different tasks. If you can get a good GPA without doing anything else you're less valuable than a person with experience, extracurriculars and a lower GPA. Getting into diverse activities is going to better prepare you for the challenges you're going to face when you have your own company. You're better if you're not only identified by who you are at school, but by who you are outside of school.
